Christine Waanders is a licensed psychologist who specializes in treating young children (ages 2 to 10) and their families. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Carolina in 2002 and completed her psychology internship at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Waanders conducts child and family therapy, diagnostic evaluations, behavioral consultation to preschool programs, as well as school observations and consultation for IEP’s and 504 plans. In her work with families, Dr. Waanders explores and identifies the family dynamics and developmental issues that are impacting young children and their parents. She guides children and families to develop new coping strategies and helps them practice more effective and positive ways of interacting, to enhance and strengthen their relationships and general well-being.
Prior to working at Bryn Mawr Psychological Associates, Dr. Waanders was an outpatient psychotherapist at The Center in King of Prussia for 10 years. In addition to her work in outpatient therapy, Dr. Waanders has worked part-time since 2007 at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where she is a consultant on bullying and aggression in youth and an expert in school-based aggression prevention programming.
