Women in leadership face bias and stereotypes, both internalized and external, which impact their leadership abilities and access to leadership opportunities. Attendees will be aided in reflecting on their own intersectional identities and the ways in which gender-identity may have or be impacting their leadership experiences or opportunities. This will include self-reflection, small group discussions, and review of literature on barriers and facilitators regarding women in leadership. Attendees will take away strategies they can use in advocating for themselves and others in leadership spaces.
Objectives:
1. Identify their personal intersectional identities.
2. Describe several gender biases and stereotypes women in leadership face.
3. Discuss their own leadership experiences for such stereotypes and biases.
4. Assess strategies to mitigate biases and support women in leadership.
5. Write one SMART goal related to enacting a strategy in supporting women leadership.
