Every psychologist will be contacted by an attorney at some point in their career. Being contacted by an attorney always arouses anxiety. This workshop will educate the attendees about how to respond when a lawyer contacts them. The knowledge gained will prepare them to respond in an ethical and legal manner.
Workshop Overview:
- HOUR 1 Review of Ethical Standards and Principles Related to Responding to Subpoenas and Court Orders and Testifying in Court
- HOUR 2 Mock Testimony
- HOUR 3 Review/Questions and Answers
Objectives:
- Explain the difference between a subp0ena and a Court Order.
- Describe the ethical principles related to responding to a subpoena and Court Order.
- Describe the ethical principles related to testifying in court.
- Understand the do’s and dont’s while testifying in court.
- Explain the difference between a Fact Witness, a Forensic Expert, and a Treating Expert.
Steven R. Cohen, Ph.D is a therapist and forensic psychologist who has specialized in family law related issues. These include custody evaluations, mental health evaluations, co-parenting counseling, parenting coordination, and therapy with high conflict families. He has testified in more than 100 trials.
He is Past President of PPA, Past President of PSCP, Past Chair of the Ethics Committee of PPA, Past Chair of the Ethics Committee of PSCP, Past Chair of the Psychology Licensing Board, and is a Member of the PPA Child and Family Forensics Committee.
Jane Iannuzzelli, MEd, MA is a Licensed Psychologist in Pennsylvania and is in private practice in Media, PA. She specializes in all aspects of family dynamics in divorce and separation. Ms. Iannuzzelli served as Chair Person for the Pennsylvania Psychological Association Child Custody Project Group (2004-2008). She has authored HIPAA, Copyright, Ethics, Forensics, and Assessment in Action (SPA Exchange) and co-authored Stipulation for Custody Evaluation (Pennsylvania Family Lawyer) and Forensic Psychology for Non-Forensic Psychologists: Issues and Pitfalls (The Pennsylvania Psychologist). Ms. Iannuzzelli has presented at numerous professional trainings for Delaware County Bar Association, The Philadelphia Regional Child Custody Roundtable, the Family Law Section of the Chester County Bar Association, 10th Bench-Bar Conference of the 39th Judicial District, and the Pennsylvania Psychological Association Annual Conventions and Conferences on the subjects of Child Custody and Parenting Coordination. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, Pennsylvania Psychological Association, Pennsylvania Psychological Association Child Custody Project Group, South Eastern Pennsylvania Association of Custody Evaluators, ABA/APA Pennsylvania Stakeholders Group for Parenting Coordination, Lawyers and Psychologists Child Custody Study Group for 5 County Area, Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, Society for Personality Assessment, and Association for Conflict Resolution. Ms. Iannuzzelli earned her B.A. in sociology from Albright College, her M.A. in psychology from West Chester University, and her M.Ed. in special education from Temple University.

The current presentation will highlight common risk factors and warning signs of suicide in a variety of populations and ages. In addition, protective factors and deterrents of suicide will be explored and discussed. Finally the program will focus on a discussion of safety planning theory and incorporating a safety plan into patient treatment goals and practice.
Objectives:
- Able to describe and articulate risk factors and Warning Signs of suicide.
- Able to list the steps necessary to assess a variety og populations at risk for suicide.
- Able to articulate ways to manage and treat patients who are at risk of suicide.
- Able to describe and implement a Safety Plan in treatment with patients at risk for suicide.
- Able to describe and incorporate suicide theory into assessment and practice.
Kyle Holsinger, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania, and he received a Doctorate of Psychology degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005. He is the Clinical Director for Delaware County Professional Services (DCPS). DCPS is an outpatient mental health practice with 60 therapists and psychiatrist, servicing all ages and providing individual, couples, and family therapies. He developed the practice’s Primary Health Care Integration program, and has collaborated with numerous internal medicines, family medicine and pediatric offices. DCPS currently has therapists inside of 10 primary care physician offices. Dr. Holsinger has a special interest in treating populations with chronic medical conditions.
