This 3-hour course will introduce participants to the hormonal conditions including PMDD, Perinatal Anxiety and Depression, Perimenopause, Menopause that impact women’s mental health. Participants will learn an overview of each condition, tour the endocrine system, and gain a comprehensive understanding of psychological shifts that occur with these conditions. Finally, providers will learn mindfulness –based interventions and other behavioral interventions to help patients better navigate intense hormonal shifts.
Objectives:
1. Describe the most common symptoms of PMDD, perinatal anxiety/depression, perimenopause, and menopause.
2. Recognize the difference between normal hormonal mood changes and specific mental health conditions.
3. Explain endocrine system.
4.Use mindfulness and/or behavioral strategies to treat emotional dysregulation
5. Assess essential lifestyle changes through case studies.
Kristine V. Spano, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist licensed in Pennsylvania and New York. She currently serves as the Director of Clinical Psychology and Psychological Assessment at Rittenhouse Psychiatric Associates located in Philadelphia. As a Member-at-Large for the The Psychology Network: Philadelphia Society of Clinical Psychologists (PSCP), she is actively engaged in advocacy and organizational initiatives.
Dr. Spano earned her Psy.D. from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She attended Rutgers University where she obtained a master’s degree in education, Drew University where she earned her B.A.
