This session will begin with discussing who may be in need of medications. Presenters will highlight some of the psychodynamic issues for therapists to look out for with patients and medications. Various mood issues and diagnoses will be covered: anxiety and depression issues, Bipolar and ADHD. Presenters will break down medication groups and what they can be used for, along with individual medications are prescribed for various issues. This session will touch on the red flags to watch out for when it comes to medication noncompliance and side effects.
Julie Meranze Levitt, PhD is a clinical and school psychologist who has treated children and adults who have chronic diseases for over 40 years. She also is a systems psychologist who has studied relationships of individuals with chronic medical problems within family contexts. Also, she works with individuals and families who have experienced trauma, depression, and anxiety. Dr. Meranze Levitt ‘s doctoral studies in psychology are from Yeshiva University and her post-doctoral training in individual and family therapies were at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and Temple University School of Medicine and Philadelphia Child Guidance Center. She is a hypnotherapist and was a training psychologist at the Council of Relationships from 1980-1995.
Inna Conboy, MD is a Board Certified Psychiatrist. She is grateful to have a profession that she truly loves. She went into psychiatry because of her desire for depth and meaning in the doctor-patient relationships. Her interest in the field started with her grandmother, who was a psychiatrist in Russia. Dr. Conboy attended New Jersy Medical School (now known as Rutgers University Medical School). She completed her residency at Temple University Hospital. She is also trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Currently, Dr. Conboy is a psychiatrist for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections and has a small independent psychotherapy practice.
